Planning to move, or have already moved to Alberta? Perhaps you're purchasing a vehicle from another Province?
Either of these scenarios will require and Out of Province Vehicle Inspection (OPI) in order to register your vehicle in Alberta.
The OPI is a through inspection with expectations set by the Province of Alberta.
What should you expect and plan for?
-Plan to drop off your vehicle and go about your day. This is not a quick inspection and requires around 3 hours to complete the inspection and Government paper work.
-Strict Government parameters must be followed by the technician. Random audits of an OPI inspection are performed by the Alberta Government and the technician can face fines or other consequences for looking the other way if the vehicle does not meet their parameters. It is not personal or a matter of choice if we have to fail an item on your vehicle.
-We will provide a full detailed inspection and if repairs are required, you will receive a quote outlining required repairs and exact prices.
-Following successful completion of the inspection, you will be provided all paperwork required to register your vehicle in Alberta.
It is best to not wait until the last minute.
